What is a functional gynecologist? Why is estrogen dominance so common now? Do birth control pills regulate hormones?
Dr. Tabatha Barber

Dr. Tabatha Barber has devoted her life to giving women a voice and a choice when it comes to their health and well-being. As a young girl, she struggled with self-esteem and identity issues, dealt with peer-pressure, and survived the ridicule and stigma of becoming a teenage mother. As she shared in her first published book titled, From White Trash to White Coat: The Birth of Catherine’s Purpose, those events led Tabatha to finding her purpose in life. With perseverance and grace, she was able to redirect her path in life and become a successful physician.
The Gutsy Gyno is triple board-certified in obstetrics and gynecology, menopause, and functional medicine. She has the unique situation of being licensed to practice medicine in over half the country, so you now have the ability to work with a functional physician virtually. She is the host of The Gutsy Gynecologist Show; where she shares her wisdom and knowledge with women everywhere to reclaim their health. She is also an inspirational speaker, mentor, wife, mom, and grandma! By incorporating functional medicine into her women’s health practice, she is able to provide women with the tools they need to optimize their health and happiness, which, in turn, allows those women to pursue their purpose in life.

Estrogen dominance
Melissa and Dr. Tabatha discuss in detail how important the need is for progesterone and what the new standard of women’s healthcare needs to be to stop this common problem in our lives today. You must heal yourself; less stress, better sleep, take care of your gut health, and learn to listen to your menstrual cycle as a vital tool for insight into your health.
Bandaid medicine
Dr. Tabatha learned over the course of her early career, that our country is treating women’s health problems with a “bandaid medicine” mentality. So many physicians are overlooking the root cause to things like trouble with sleep, acne, weight gain, anxiety and hot flashes without finding a cause. Then the list of medicines grow, the list of symptoms grows, and nothing is actually resolved. We need to learn to heal the true issues instead of just having a temporary fix that causes more problems.
Riding the hormonal rollercoaster
That fun time in a woman’s life when they go through perimenopause. Women are going through this phase of life earlier and earlier and symptoms are lasting longer. Dr. Tabatha tells us why and how important it is to stay hormonally balanced. Everything from birth control pills, progesterone capsules, pellets, creams, patches, gut health and so much more!
