Money mistakes were all making
“No decision is the worst decision”
Making emotional money decisions. Not unlike when were stressed and binge eat. Some of us when stressed or upset buy things. Maybe its food or clothes, whatever is going to distract and make us feel temporarily better. But, as an alternative, could taking a long walk have done the same? Or, Meditating or a good workout? We need to stop spending to feel better and find new ways to get a boost. Also, some of us are intimidated by making financial decisions and that’s even worse because we’ll postpone making decisions until were forced to make one.
Try to keep in mind that money doesn’t really exist. It’s simply something we’ve created to make society work. But money doesn’t occur in nature, you cannot eat it, or wear it. It’s just a tool. Use it to your advantage. You can start slow. Check your bank account a few times a week to see how much is going in and out, and when.
Teaching kids about money
“The best way to learn is to teach someone else”
Stop shielding your kids from money, they have to learn about it at some point. Nobody wants their kids to know when money is tight or that our stress is money related. And they don’t have to know that much. But invite them into understanding, Let them know that you’re checking your balances. When grocery shopping is the best time. Compare costs, needs and unit prices. Which paper plates offer more for your dollar?
Women and finances
Women are often shut out of financial conversations. It’s mostly men in those meetings. And when a women is present they sometimes are made to feel like they shouldn’t be there. But did you know that studies have shown that women are actually better investors than men? Men invest more emotionally. Want to go where the money already is. Bandwagon investors. Like Crypto for example. And will in turn pull out when the going gets tough. Women are more long term investors. They do their research, set goals and limits. Investments are never a certain thing but having a plan is an excellent way to start.
