When was the last time you did something for yourself? How about the last time you had alone time? Do you value yourself enough to take care of…..you?
This week were talking self worth and VALUE! What/who do you value? Your kids, husband, family, and friends of coarse. But, where do you fall into that list? Do you even fall into that list? For some the answer is yes, right after husband and kids. For others the answer is no. And for an even smaller group, a teeny tiny group, the answer is yes, before anyone else. Thats a hard thing to say for some of us. It almost seems like it’s frowned upon to put yourself before your kids and significant other.
But know this, there is an overwhelming feeling of elation knowing you put your foot down and took care of yourself first for once. Now make self care a habit and that elation will trickle into everything else you do. And you do A LOT.

“Dinner with me — I can’t cancel that again”
Where do we start? No, better yet, where do we finish? For our families we’re chauferres, doctors, coaches, maids, private chefs, teachers, tutors, we walk the dog, clean the dishes, do the laundry, we make sure the bills are paid on time, organize play dates, shop for groceries, I could go on forever. Do you clock out? Nope. Lets not forget our jobs outside of mom/wife life. Now where (after all that) did you take time for yourself? Did you enjoy the coffee or take it on the go? Did you get to the gym?
“Choose to put you first”
Get your nails done every two weeks, go to a restaurant and have lunch alone and in peace once a week, go to the gym while the kids do their homework. Working out is great for stress relief. And the walk from the car to the gym door is the hardest walk of the day. Push through. You have to value yourself enough to commit to your workouts. It should be part of your routine like having your morning coffee or showering. It may not be easy at first but after a while it becomes second nature. Find the time, and if you can’t find time, make time. It will be worth it.
What your kids see

Who do you want your kids to look up to? There are some great role models out there. But wouldn’t it be the most amazing feeling if it was you? Kids won’t remember that one time you ordered take out because you went to the gym. They will definitely remember that you committed to your health every single day. And maybe it’ll become second nature to them when they become adults. Why is it that we don’t always prioritize ourselves but we hope our kids do. We pray that they take care of themselves and their health but where are they going to learn that from? We have to lead by example so that our kids can follow in our footsteps. Lead the way momma.
