Are your kids suddenly developing upper respiratory issues? What are those stains on the basement walls? And what’s that smell? Got mold?
In this podcast, I speak with Jason Earle about mold in your home and what it could be doing to your families health.
Meet Jason Earle
A man on a mission. An adoring father of two boys, incurable entrepreneur and indoor air quality crusader, he is founder & CEO of the mold inspection company, 1-800-GOT-MOLD?, and the creator of the GOT MOLD?® Test Kit.
As a kid Jason had extreme allergies and asthma that were relieved after moving out of their home. He found out the cause of his ailments were coming from that house. The house had mold. Shortly thereafter Jason left his successful Wall Street career to pursue a new one doing sick building investigations.

Symptoms
At three years old Jason had lost a lot of weight and was having a hard time breathing. He had developed asthma and pneumonia. It came from mold in the family home. The musty smell effects the immune system, causes headaches, nausea, fatigue, difficulty concentrating, and allergic responses.
“Think of mold like a kryptonite, it will weaken you and make you susceptible to other things”
A study done shows that there are roughly 24.6 million asthma cases of which 10 million are children. And, 4.6 million are mold and dampness related. The musty odor doubles the asthma risk in children.
Identifying mold / sick building syndrome
- See it- look for stains on walls or condensation.
- Smell it- the musty wet odor.
- sudden but often different new health issues. Mainly upper respiratory problems.
“Our job is to maintain the building so that the building will take care of us.”
- Humidity is the enemy, mold is the symptom. The issue is the moisture because that’s how it starts. 40-60% humidity is ideal. 60% + is mold territory.
Got Mold? test kit
Though Jason’s Got Mold? test kit is not a replacement for a professional inspection, it is a cost effective first step. Go to https://www.gotmold.com/bombmom-podcast/ for an inspection checklist. The test is based on an environmental assessment that takes air samples of spore traps. Those samples are sent to a laboratory to test for mold. Why do the tests that require you to grow mold at home?
