What is the 5am Miracle?
You know that feeling when you drop the kids off at school and you say to yourself “Self, you weren’t very patient with the kids this morning” because maybe you raised your voice or they only got three bites of breakfast and you’re tired of reminding the kids that they have to brush their teeth. How do they not know the routine by now? And then you’re running out the door. It’s not a great feeling and we’ve all been there.
Now picture what it would be like waking up, maybe just 30mins, before the kids to meditate or have that quiet cup of coffee. Just one thing for yourself and then waking up the kids after you’ve had that time to wake yourself up first.
Stress relief
- Address what your stressors are and how can you remove those irritants. Even if its something small.
- Do less! Simplicity is golden. Some of the things we do in our schedule can in fact be postponed if not removed completely.
- There are big to-do’s and little to-do’s (little to-do’s referenced above).
- And most importantly, stay healthy to bring on your best self. If you aren’t healthy everything around you suffers.
Just give it a try
“Dominate your day before breakfast”
Who wants to wake up at 5am? Not many people. You don’t necessarily have to wake up at 5am. You just have to get up a little earlier than usual for your you time and watch the magic happen. It’s YOUR day it belongs to you, you don’t belong to the day.
Create a focus block of time wherein you get your more important to-do’s done and don’t get lost in transition. The tv, facebook, and instagram can wait. Mindless time is a bad habit.
Evening routine is key. This is when most of that mindless time comes in. Instead of staying up until 11pm watching tv, try to take this time to turn off and shut down the day. Leave a little bit of energy for the morning so that it’s easier to wake up earlier. It’s like a cycle. Once you’ve mastered it, watch the magic happen.
