What do you do when you come across something new that excites you? Can you start a new process, trusting your capabilities? How can you take the first step?
In this podcast episode, Melissa Vogel speaks with TruFit gym owner, Jen Cooke, about being capable and getting things done.
Meet Jen Cooke
Jen is a wife, mom of 4, owner of 3 TRV|FIT gyms. She is a former collegiate athlete that had lost a passion for fitness. After having children she realized the importance of her health and finding her identity.
She was lucky enough to find a path of helping others with their own health and making them believe they are also important.

- Jen’s advice to you
Start with the first step
Do not feel like you have to wait to be ready to try something new, because you will probably be waiting for the rest of your life. Start the thing that catches your eye, try out the class that looks interesting to you, take the first step because you will not know how capable you are without first trying.
Ask for help
Do not be afraid to ask for help when you genuinely need it, because there are so many people who can help and most likely many people who want to help you.
I think we cut ourselves too short on what we think we’re capable of, and we can do a lot. I still have my downtime … we need to have an outlet still in order to cool a little bit and not be about business all the time. (Jen Cooke)
Do the things that you do well, and do them well, and ask for help about the things that you do not do very well yet. Have grace and compassion for yourself.
Jen’s advice to you
Keep it simple, focus on it one day at a time, and just try to be better today than you were yesterday.
