What is metabolism?
Your metabolism is the total of all the hormonal and biological processes in your body that take place to keep you in homeostasis, which means to keep you in a state of stability. Your metabolism adapts to your environment to keep you at homeostasis.
How do you hack your metabolism?
Goal setting is about deciding what you are not going to do today. Now, which do you want to accomplish first? What is your primary goal?
Goal setting is about saying ‘here are our top three or four priorities’. It doesn’t mean we’re not gonna get to everything on the list because I’ve got 30 on my list! It means we’re gonna tick these off and put them into maintenance mode before we move on to the next, and the next and the next. That’s how you ensure, you guarantee progress.
You are not doing anything wrong, your body has simply acclimated to all the good things you have done. With goal-setting, you can reverse engineer your strategy so that you can show it to a friend of yours and they will easily be able to tell what your ultimate goal is, simply by looking at the layout of your strategy.
If they have no clue, then it means your strategy is lacking in direction. You have a finite amount of activity both mentally and physically, and science is critical in the strategy of how to properly utilize both of these.
What do you like doing for fun, do you go out to eat a lot, do you have children, what is your work schedule like, and so forth – these are all the triggers on how you will be able to build a robust strategy around your lifestyle to maximize your metabolism. MetPro works with snacking because they can work closely with you, and with meals that they cannot monitor they have a principled approach.
Strategic vs metabolic
Strategic refers to someone whose metabolism is functioning well with clean eating and exercise. The key here is consistency, the strategic one here is someone who needs tips and tricks because they have the groundwork laid. Metabolic describes you if you are already doing the ‘good’ things yet you are still stuck on a plateau. This means that your metabolism has acclimated to your current system and unless you make a big, meaningful change and challenge it, your metabolism will stay the same.
No metabolism is the same. Baseline testing is based on thousands of data points taken across thousands of aspects and with technology, through baseline testing your body type will be found as near to how it is in the data as possible.
For example, through the baseline testing, it can put you on a meal plan that will show how your body exactly responds to the food it is digesting, and at the end of 72 hours, it will show accurate data about how your metabolism works. Your age, weight, height, and your gender are not the most impactful factors – it is actually your nutritional history, what your body is currently used to.
Be careful not to be impatient with this, because no worthwhile change is going to be made quickly.
Food can be a difficult thing to change, but it is doable. What helps with this is having a strong motivational piece that reminds you of why you started. Some people respond better to either an instructor, a mentor, or a leader. Each person gets the same scientific data, but each person will receive their data in a different form from the above three types.
