On Sunday night, at 9: 30, I went out there and I was just like ‘If I don’t go out there right now and I don’t get this done, I am showing myself that If I keep putting off this workout, I won’t have to do it’. Or if I get enough emotionally drained today I won’t have to do my workout. Or if I’m tired enough, I won’t have to do it, if I cry enough today, I won’t have to do it.
Show up for you
I’m like ‘no damn it’! You know what the one thing I need consistent right now is me. I need me showing up for me and no one else is going to show up for me. I have to show up for me!
Remember that as you’re going into your week especially if you still have a workout to do, this isn’t for the booty shorts, it’s not for the bikini, your husband, or your kids. I mean those are all great side effects, but do these workouts this week for you.
Show up for you, show up for you during a time where life is inconsistent, it’s scary and we don’t know what’s going on. Do it for you and then everyone else gets to enjoy the benefits of it. Our kids get a nice recharged mom, they get a mom who had time to take a break and reset that battery and then come back and feel good about herself.
Feeling good
When you feel good about yourself that’s going to reflect on how you involve yourself and interact with your kids. I needed to show to myself last night that no matter how hard a day I had, that I’m going to go out there. It’s not going to be the greatest burn, I don’t even think I’m sore from it.
I went out there for me, to show up for me. I’m proving to myself that even though I moan, I’m not going to give in and I’m not going to get out of this workout. I needed it just to plug my air pods in, crank some music, and just go to town on something physical.
Pushing weights, that’s going to strengthen me mentally and emotionally, that’s why I did it. That’s what I focused on and when I was done, I felt the blood pumping, the endorphins, and the adrenaline going. And I slept like a baby, I really did and I needed a good night’s sleep.
Take it one day at a time
I invite you guys to take workouts one day at a time. It’s not always about burning so many calories, sometimes it is, but other times it’s about needing to calm down, do yoga, find my space, and breathe. Enjoy the oxygen going into my body.
Take each exercise one step at a time because each one is different, each one is going to fuel us differently and each one is going to provide something different. Once you’re open to that and once you realize how unique and special each workout truly is, whether it’s yoga, meditation, kickboxing with me, hardcore lifting leg day, chest and bicep day… Whatever that is, it has a different purpose in your life, and when you can learn that you will appreciate and love fitness and your workouts even more. Because now it’s not just one singular like losing fat, or losing weight, that’s all great, but it can be many different things.
Fill your cup
When that bug gets in your ear and you don’t feel like it just think about what does this workout need to fulfill right now? Because if you don’t want to get up and move and you’re just tired. Maybe you’re going to get up and go recharge your brain or just go do something else. Maybe you pivot and walk on your treadmill, that’s going to fill your cup. But just do something!
